Have you ever noticed that most successful people seem to have it all – a fit body, a loving family, a great career, financial success and more? Do you stop to wonder how some people have it and some don’t?

What does it mean to have balance in your life? Here are some key areas to check if you have harmony, balance and success in your life.

Health &  fitness – Do you feel physically unfit or suffer from ill health? This will most likely affect your output at work or in other areas.

Love & Relationships – Do you have tension in your familial environment ? How would you describe your relationships with family, friends and extended family? Is it ideal?

Emotional wellbeing – Are you filled with anger, sadness, rejection? How happy are you in your current life? These are questions you need to ask yourself. Underlying emotions permeate through and affect our overall performance.

Intellectual growth – To sharpen our minds, we need to learn and grow intellectually. Are you spending enough time growing mentally?

Career – Are you satisfied with your career? Does your job excite you? What would you rather do? How would you do your job to bring more satisfaction?

Financial Stability – Are you financially stable? Have you achieved your financial goals that give you freedom? What must you do to achieve your financial dreams ?

Social interactions – Do you have a great friend circle? How much time do you spend to connect and enjoy the company of friends? Are your friends like minded ?

Fun/Creativity – How much fun are you having in your life? Are you spending enough time doing things that are fun? What activities bring out your creative side ? Are you fuelling your creative side ?

These are the important areas you could deliberate over to know if you have balance in your life. You could use a 10 point scale or a chart to measure your satisfaction in each area. This will enable you to see the areas you need to pay more attention to. Some areas might have to be scaled down to make time for others. If you are unhappy in some areas of your life, you need to address it. Negative feelings and unhappiness affect your productivity across the spectrum. This is how you find if you are living a balanced life. A well-balanced life is imperative for personal effectiveness, peace, joy and living holistically.
